We believe Invisalign® isn’t a straight-teeth-in-a-box solution that can be universally applied. The Invisalign® Consultation: What to Expect

PREPARATION

When you contact our office, our team will get an initial idea of your concerns and to start the preparation process for your teen’s Invisalign® evaluation. We will contact your dentist for any current records and we’ll verify your insurance coverage, if possible.

EVALUATION & CONSULTATION

At the initial visit we do a digital visual image scan of the teeth and take photos. This allows us to evaluate bite and alignment issues with you, while were both viewing the images on the monitor. In most instances, we are able to submit the scan and photos to Invisalign and show you the initial video of how the teeth will move, usually with in 15 minutes of submission. If you are ready to move forward with treatment, we can take any necessary x-rays and schedule the start of treatment. In the meantime, Dr. Schur will refine the actual treatment plan, and communicate with any other dental professionals involve in your teen’s care.

CONSULTATION

The next step is a consultation appointment, where you’ll go over a video of your teen’s actual tooth movement plan. We can make real-time changes to the virtual treatment during this meeting. The meeting is typically conducted in the office, but Schur Orthodontics also offers remote consultations over the phone and/or computer.

STARTING TREATMENT

Once you approve of the treatment plan, we’ll order the aligners and an appointment will be scheduled to start treatment, which can be as soon as 2 weeks from then initial visit! Follow-up visits are typically set at intervals from 8-12 weeks (based on your teen’s needs). At the end of treatment, a set of retainers will be delivered, and follow-up visits will be far less frequent.

Have Questions about Our Invisalign® Teen Services?

Can my teen eat or drink with the aligners in?

We recommend only drinking water with the aligners in. Otherwise, food and other liquids will pool in the aligners, causing staining and potential damage to the teeth.

What if my teen loses his/her aligners?

We ask your child to go directly to the next pair of aligners in the series. Call us ASAP so we can discuss the plan from there: (425) 747-4477.

Will my teen need to wear a retainer after treatment?

Yes! The key to maintaining a good orthodontic result is the proper design of retainers and a retention plan. At Schur Orthodontics, this is done for each patient.

How long should my teen wear the aligners?

Compliance is very crucial when committing to Invisalign® Teen at our Bellevue orthodontic office.

For optimal results, your teen must wear his/her aligners for 22 hours per day.

Invisalign® is an advanced option in orthodontic treatment, but it is merely an instrument. The key to amazing results is choosing the optimal instrument for each patient, properly designing the treatment, and, of course, your teen’s commitment to wearing the aligners properly.
